What octane gas do you use in your ranger, if I use 87 it pings been using 89 octane.

89 cuz I'm poor. I'd get 87 but I can't find it around me
Depending on what year Ranger you have, Ford recommends for 93+ that I know of. I would recommend trying some seafoam for the engine block if its pinging. It may have alot of buildup
I've used seafoam in it just last week. The truck has always seen 89 octane. Just thought I would try 87, so I will go back to the good stuff again.
I use 87 in mine, no problems at all with the fuel octane
Clinton, where did you see octane rated at 93+ ?
I meant the 93+ as far as Ranger years. I guess i should have worded it better
I was a little confused too. It's not a race car
E85 and a 87 mix
My book says I can use 10% ethanol and no more. No E85...
Fast freddie
inorder to use the E85 you need stainless tank and fuel lines are made of different material and seals. would then be considered FLEX fuel vehicle probably has a little leaf on the tailgate by the ford logo
here is a little tid bit of info
i used 83 octane dont really have any problem with it....
Hahahaaa.... Oddly enough I have the "V" indicator as the 8th vin number,:whistling: although the chart only went up to 2008 for rangers, and didn't list the 4.0 So I would surmise that I better take a close look at th' Pump to see what they are dispencing... :thumbup1:
Fast Freddie
see i didnt even know that my truck was flex till i had a problem with my fuel sending unit that tells the truck what fuel is in the tank the leaf was taken off my truck when i got it
