How To: Front Brake Replacement - Third Gen - Discussion thread

    I nor rangerforum.net take responsibilty to any harm you do to yourself your truck or anybody around you while performing this repair

    Here we go!

    Tools Needed:
    Hammer
    Flat Head Screwdriver
    Punch
    C-Clamp
    19mm deep well impact socket
    impact gun or breaker bar

    1: jack up truck and put it on jack stands

    WARNING!!!! NEVER WORK ON ANY VEHICLE IN THE AIR WITHOUT JACK STANDS IN PLACE!!!!!

    2: Remove Wheel

    you should now see this

    3: use the punch and hammer to push out slide pins

    [​IMG]

    4: Pull off caliper

    [​IMG]

    5: Take off rear pad, it just slides out

    [​IMG]

    6: Remove front pad, this you need to use the screwdriver to push metal clips off caliper

    [​IMG]

    7: Now take off Brake master cylinder cap

    8: using c clamp push caliper piston back in

    [​IMG]

    9: Put rear pad in

    10: Push front pad on caliper, you can do this by hand

    11: set caliper back on and line up and start pins in ( make sure you put the bumps in the pins so they face the bracket attached to the truck

    12: now use the hammer to push the pins into place

    13: pump brake pedal

    [​IMG]

    14: put fluid cap back on and fill if you deem it necessary

    Now you have new front brakes!
