Heat / Coolant Issue

Problem is like this, heat starts blowing cold air into truck and coolant resevoir tank is filling at this point. Need to let truck cool down and coolant goes back to rad. When heat is working in truck I have no issues. Have replaced thermostat, maybe heat control valve next? Anyone have these issues. 99 Ranger XLT 3.0L.
 
when it starts to blow cold air temp gauge goes right down then comes back up and kind of bounces back and forth,

system was flushed back in March. Some buddies mentioned may be a head gasket.
 
May be impeller on water pump. Ford had some issues with these. My 3.0 had an intake gasket leaking water on the left front as you look at engine. What does you oil look like?
My first guess is water pump.
 
oil looks ok from what I can see. it is currently at the shop right now getting a pressure test done on it, i will post when i hear whats wrong. Appreciate the feedback.
 
Does the oil level increase when you have this problem ?

Also, if you see a whitish coloring on the dip stick or under the filler cap, this could indicate water in the oil.
