Alright guys here's the story. I'm tryin to find my little brother who's graduating HS this year a good truck that will serve him well like mine has. I've looked at probably dozens of trucks and most of them have been ****. I found a '94 XLT extended cab, asking $4k OBO. Truck is solid and the interior looks brand new, only issue is...I don't know a thing about the 4.0. I've only ever worked on 2.3 and 2.5. Is there anything I need to check out / look for? Any help is appreciated! Thanks

idk anything with the pre sohc 4.0s but id take that over the 3.0s that have the cam sincro b.s. but i think those 4.0s are good. that looks like a really nice truck but id definitely talk him down from $4k. IMO id be at like $2-2,500. how many miles? auto?

Auto - 64k miles - interior is spotless - AC/Heat - at least 80% tread left

Minor rust underneath and the oil pan seal leaks from not being driven, other than that no mechanical issues. Drove it the other day and it felt like it was brand new!

I think the price is a little on the high side, but the 4.0 is (in my opinion) the best engine for the rangers of that year. I dont know much about the 4.0 OHV but there are members here who I'm sure will chime in with good news on them

Well looks like my dad already went ahead and offered him 3,800 for it and the guy accepted. So I'll be going in an hour to go pick it up

I think if anything he'll probably put some beefier tires on it and maybe lift it a bit. He's gonna be going to school to be a park ranger, so he'll need something to take offroad

More pics man, that thing is in incredible conditions!

Oh yes, blow that cap off please!!!! Great truck youve got man! Congratulations!!!

Early 1900's...I believe 1912 to be exact. Its on the historic register, I have a plaque for the front of the house, just haven't put it on yet
