2011 2.3 pecking noise

Has anyone had any problems with a pecking or ticking noise from their engine. When the engine is started it makes a pecking noise ( sounds like lifters) for about five to ten minutes until it warms up then it quiets down. My father bought his truck a few months after I did and his runs quiet.
 
I have seen that on trucks that that run low on oil, sometimes lacking lubrication. Try using a synthetic oil, see if that fixes the problem
 
Agreed with Hooligan. Sometimes the oil hasn't made it all the way to the top of the engine at first, but five to ten minutes seems a little long... And I doubt that the oil pump is shot in it already.
 
If its that new and knocking like a lifter banging, take it to the dealership, it will be warranty work so you dont have to sweat it
 
I second that. I've never heard of any problems like that before... I'll see if my one buddy knows anything about it. He's torn his 94 apart about fifty times over, so he might know something.
 
I was just wanting to see if anyone one else was having problems with theirs before I took it back, you know how dealers can be. When I bought the truck there was a paper in it that said it was chosen as a test vehicle off the assembly line to account for the 10 to 15 miles that were on the odometer. Not sure what kind of test they put them trough but maybe it was hard on a new engine.
 
You break the engine in to how you're going to use it, so I don't think they would be drag racing with it... lol But it's a possibility still. And yeah, them dealers can be pricks sometimes, pardon my fench... I got screwed over with them a few times already.
 
I have a 1989 ranger 2.3 that had 80,000 miles on it when I bought it about 14 years ago, it now has almost 300,000, I have beat the hell out of it and never a problem just routine maintenance. In 2001 I bought a new 2001 ranger with the 2.5 biggest POS I ever owned it was plagued with engine and wiring problems, after almost a year fighting with ford to get something done I gave up and traded it in. Now I bought the new 2011 and just hoping I don't have to go through the same thing with it. After the last one and Fords inability to solve the problem I swore I would never buy another new ford, but I just did.

Karma? lol jk. 01 has to be the worst year... I've had nothing but problems with mine... Dumped almost two grand into it, and I've barely had the truck five months... I have all kinds of wiring issues in mine, short circuits, all kinds of crap. The engine has 137,500 give or take, and it still runs pretty good; aside from a power steering whine and ridiculously loud... It's more the exterior components... Other than that, I love her. Haha
