Unless a Vehicle Speed Sensor took a dump, you're most likely going to be having to shell out the $$ for a tow to the Ford dealer.

My guess that there's something inside the latch. Try removing it and turning it upside down. If that does not work, hit up a salvage yard. They don't sell rebuild kits for them (that I have ever heard of) but they're pretty much universal.
