Look in the how to's for a step by step guide but as far as modding something the only thing I had to mod was the corners so they would accept my factory bulb holder. My bulb holders were a little bigger than what the 01-03 corners wanted to accept.

Trucks on power block tv did the 4.6l swap in a Mazda b2500(ranger) I believe they did it in an 01 and they had to do a but load of mods to get it to fit and even after all the mods there where several issues that I would think would end up being clearance issues later on down the road.

It should. If it's not a direct bolt up you can always mod it to fit with an exhaust coupler and exhaust clamps until you can get it welded in.

Yes the 5.0(302) will fit with out a lot of modification the LS1 that you were thinking about will fit as we'll but be a lot more cash wise and probably modification wise aswell. The 5.0(302) is just about a bolt in application. About the only thing if I remember correctly that you will have to...
