replacing timing belt tension pulley '93

Actually, I wouldn't try that in my GMC. The transmission isn't worth tearing down. I had to replace it due to New Venture Gear not offering parts to diy-ers. The ring you're talking about may actually be the in the rear differential. The final ratio determines your torque and mpg. But, more...

replacing timing belt tension pulley '93

I know my 4.0L will fly past someone no problem. When I had an '88 s15 it climbed hills without downshifting and passed other vehicles if I downshifted out of OD. This sonoma though, if I take it out of OD into 4th it still doesn't climb a hill without loosing speed. And 22 mpg around town isn't...

replacing timing belt tension pulley '93

Oh... I went back and read your original post. I'm not exactly sure how I missed the words "Timing belt" and "2.3l". I thought we were talking about the serpentine belt tensioner here. But I could see the same method I use for the serpentine belt tensioner working on a timing belt. How's the...

replacing timing belt tension pulley '93

Yeah, the real fun is putting the belt back on. I get the belt on there, then had to put the ratchet on the tensioner, swing the ratchet over and hold the tensioner while I quickly return the ratchet to finish getting it up enough to put the belt under it.

    wrecked, what to look for

Update. Ranger is ready for the road, pictures to come. Jamey, I took the ranger out and forgot how nice it was. The GMC is a 2.2 but has almost no torque or horsepower compared to the ranger. Suspension is also better on the ranger, as long as I can get my 18-20 mpg back on the ranger the GMC...

Don't know what else to do!!!

Cat will do that, check the fuel pressure regulator by unhooking the vacuum line to it. The diaphram in it may have burst causing it to run rich after warmup, cold engines require richer mixtures which is why it does fine when cold. Also check the EGR if equipped, make sure it isn't sticking.

replacing timing belt tension pulley '93

When I replaced the water pump on my splash, all I did was use a socket and a breaker bar. A standard ratchet, not 1/4 but 3/8 or 1/2 inch will also do.

    93 ford ranger v 6

You mean the Ignition Control module? I thought that would stay fairly cool for it's location and from what I read, this is an instant restart after pulling over. Unless something is wrong electrically with it. I know something in it gets hot electrically, mine had some bubling in the plastic on...

1at time doing new wheel bearings

Oh, sorry, didn't realize that was my reply. I was talking about putting the spindle nut on and off without a special socket. Sometimes I just talk to myself for no reason.

    wrecked, what to look for

Yeah, I would like to a rear disk brake swap sometime, but not this time. I replaced everything on the rear drum brakes except for the drums themselves less than a year ago. I was expecting the door and front fender to be destroyed, but some how Ford got the thing so it knocks down poles without...

1at time doing new wheel bearings

I've gotta hear this. Never heard of that method. My dad showed me how before I did mine and all I did was wash them out, them get a big mess of grease on my hand and scrape it in. Oh, and not sure if Mhoward has seen my post about my truck, but should I inspect my wheel bearing after that...

    wrecked, what to look for

Hey y'all, I hit a patch of ice, regained grip and went up a hill into a pole. Pole isn't ok but truck is other than the fiberglass bed. Kudos to ford for a great safety design. The center link is bent, steering box shaft snapped, driveshaft came apart at the splines, leaf spring bent, and front...

    Sticky throttle

Hahaha, probably. The truck's history though. The poor thing was a mudding truck from stock. The neighbors I bought it from would take it out to the field and beat the hell out of it. The reason I ended up with it was because it made an abrupt stop in the middle of a mud puddle before they...

    Sticky throttle

Mhoward is probably going to think my truck is crazy because it's got so many similar problems related to so many others on here. But I'd go for possibly a sticky iac if mhoward's ideas check out. My truck will hang just above 1000 rpm if I bump the throttle in neutral, or in gear with the...

    This is getting old.

I've got a splash with 4.0l manual and it bucks/shudders when taking off and just cruising through town. Similar problem to yours, but opposite situation. I've read of people replacing the coil pack with a hotter one like the screamin demon packs. You may want to double check your plugs and gaps...

93 Ranger won't start, ICM or CPS

I believe the fuel pump will not run unless the computer picks up a CPS signal. Maybe put a fuel pressure gauge on it, turn the key on, relieve the pressure with the button on the side of the gauge, and see if you get pressure as you're cranking it?

    rear crossmembers

Something like a transmission support Crossmembers? And summit as in summit racing?

No Start. Single Click from Firewall it sounds like.

Your second problem I think is called loping or hunting, and I believe it means you need to clean or replace the iac. My '93 manual loves to do that at stop lights and sitting at home. I have yet to find out if replacing the iac fixes it, but it's the only component that controls off throttle...

1at time doing new wheel bearings

Mhoward, I repacked mine without a socket and had to go back in and tighten them up again. I assume it's from squeezing all the extra grease out. So, it might be worth at least giving a wiggle check after about a week or so of driving. What exactly does a bad wheel bearing sound like? Is it like...
