Towing a rear wheel drive Ranger

I am moving and want to take my 2000 Ranger 2.5 Liter engine truck with me. It has 199,535 miles on it and has rear wheel drive. I don't want to go thru the hassle or expense of disconnecting the drive shaft. Is it possible to tow it backwards with the rear wheels on the dolly? I will be driving a UHaul and will be traveling about 600 miles to my destination. I would appreciate ant suggestons/advice, thanks!

Yea you lol be fine with the back wheels on dolly. The front tires will be fine

Thanks William. I was going to spend extra $$$ on a trailer to take my truck to GA. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure, as I LOVE my old truck and would HATE to get it messed up rolling the front tires backward for 600 miles.

Just pull the drive shaft. It's 4 bolts on each end and won't take 20 minutes. I wouldn't tow it backwards.

If you can't pull it yourself have a shop do it. Even if they charge you a half hour of labor it won't be more than $30.

I agree with top teke, pull the drive shaft. It wont cost you a penny if you do it yourself and its only 8 bolts. Pull the bolts put them in a ziplock and tape the bag to the driveshaft itself for safe keeping then put the shaft in a safe place till you get where your going. Its an easy job
