I have a 97 ranger that is puking water on the back side of the engine almost as fast as I put it in when hot. On the way home from work it sounded like I had a desiel engine. Hoping one of the freeze plugs in the back are bad!!!!! Its been losing water for a while but not very much.. Could not it be the block? If so my engine is a 3.0L I have a 2.9L. Would the existing tranny work?

If it's coming out that fast, I wouldn't drive it , could be freeze plugs between
engine and tranny, or I've seen the gasket on intake corrode and leak bad.
If the cooling system is real rusty I've seen them leak between the head and
    block. good luck !
