Im sure this has been covered, but has anyone successfully blocked the EGR on a 1988 Ranger 2.3L and gained HP/performance/MPG
    Thanks in advance

Since your Ranger's EGR only operates at part throttle, it has zero effect on WOT HP or performance. Fuel economy may be VERY slightly improved with the EGR operational because it allows more spark advance. In short, there is nothing to gain by tampering with an EGR system that is in good working order.

I have heard of people successfully blocking the EGR valve. It will not gain you "HP/performance/MPG", and the fact that you think it might displays a wonderful lack of understanding of how EGR works.

For one thing, it only kicks in when you are cruising and don't need full engine power.
