i have a 2006 ford ranger 6 cyl,i was getting a vibration noise from around my radio and decided to take the radio out to see if i could find the problem,i took the radio out and unplugged it ,and noticed that the screws holding the track for the radio were loose,so i tightened them back up and re-installed the radio, and now the radio doesn't even lite up or play, what could be the problem....i'm cunfused about this,is it possible that i messed up the radio by unplugging it ?....any help would be appreciated...

Maybe knocked the wire harness loose? Or the ground? Can't remember where the ground wire is as I took my stock one out a long time ago, maybe someone else can help with that.

But I'd take it out again and look for loose wires.

Small possibility that they were not the correct screws? Too long a screw would short into the circuit boards and trash the radio. Been there done that....Odds are the connection is loose as 06FordFX4 stated above.

thanks for the info fella's,got another question, i tried taking the radio out again ( the first time i took it out a friend did it for me, like with four pins) i tried doing this with pieces of coat hanger, because my friend is on vacation in colorado, and won't be back for a couple of weeks, do they have a tool to insert in the 1/8 square holes to take the radio out? any help would be appreciated....thanks again

Go to an auto parts store and buy the tool set necessary.
They are just cheap “U" shaped heavy gauge wire but the ends have been formed to work better on the radio side.
use only slight pressure and you can feel the latches let go.

Also, there is another way but you need to be careful not to break the plastic pins on the Radio Bezel itself, you can remove the Bezel and Radio as one.
I don’t like this method because of the pin damage possibility but it can work if all else fails.

Remove the two screws above the A/C-Heater Panel, keep the panel plumb and pull out at the top if you can.

DO NOT TWIST THE PANEL or pry up from the bottom.
Once you have the panel/radio out as one, you can released the side clips with a screw driver.

Just a thought.
