    Hello,
I just came into possession of a 91 ford ranger manual trans 4 cyl. 2.3.
I disconnected the negative cable of the battery. I replaced the plugs and wires and air filter. I checked and rechecked the gap on the plugs. I clean the throttle body with tb cleaner (it was very dirty). After all that, I start it up and blue smoke is constantly coming from the exhaust. I don't have any idea when they were last changed. Could the spark plugs be causing this? It calls for motorcraft awsf-32c(twin plug). Autozone gave me mc sp-493 agsf32pm. I am about at my technical limits with this. Any help would be much appreciated.

generally whenerver you have "blue or black" smoke coming from the exhaust the engine is burning some oil. you may want to check the oil and see if it needs to be changed or keep an eye on it for a couple weeks and if the level drops you will need to figure out where it's being burnt from.

  4. did you take the throttle body off? or just sprayed into it while on the vehicle? if left on propably just gunk that came loose and now burning off. or did this smoke before doing your maintenance stuff?

ok since it didnt smoke before the cleaning i would say that is more than likely it. the time for it to burn off just depends on how much it's driven... a DD it may take a couple days but if you only dirve it a few days a week it could take a little bit longer... those are not exact time frames just examples off the top of my head.

thanks again. i work at home so it will take awhile. i will keep an eye on it. if that isnt the problem, is there anything else i could check/change? i was going to change the pcv valve but i dont even see it.

you could change the pcv valve on my 2.5 its under the intake right under the fuel rails.... on your truck im not sure of its exact placement....

How about cleaning the entire throttle body well, and try running Seafoam through it
