You may want to try to clean the IAC and see if that helps your problem.

IAC=idle air control valve I'm not really sure where it would be located on your model I know on mine it's on the back of the intake.

When I had to clean mine the check engine light didn't come on. I know it controls the idle but I'm not really sure if it will cause it to try to stall while driving.

idk where ur getting the stalling from but if it was really worn out or full of alot of carbon from the engine i can see it stalling it out. when unpluged it makes the engine die

could it be clogged cats? Just throwing that out there.

Sounds like a clogged cat. In hook your cat from the y-pip and see if that clears up the problem. If it does....time for straight pipe! Unless you have emissions testing in which I feel sorry for you

Auto or manual? Could be a torque converter problem if auto....

I would replace the iacv first or atleast clean it. I reccomend replacing it as its not to expensive and it made our 2.3 run like new

well i know its not the timing cause when i had the fuel injectors replaced the mechanic checked my timing and it was all good. could my fuel regulator be bad? iam take the cat out and run straight pipe and see if that will help my problem. just wanna see wut the idea on the fuel regulators is
