I was working on my sons '97 ford ranger, screwing with the injectors and poof a fire erupted!:furious::thumbdown:
We got her knocked down quick, before it was a total waste, but now I'm screwed.
Wasted the main engine wiring harness, as well as the injectors and rail, maybe the ECM.
So, now it's bone yard time for this old guy.
    The truck is a '97 2.3 4 cyl. automatic 2 wheel drive.
What years is the harness, ECM, injectors match up for this truck?
Also will a Mazda 2.3 fit as well.
    Thanks!
    Joe
Poor kid had rebuilt the motor and most of the truck, was looking good, now I go and do this stupid thing!

I think the 93-97 harness, ECM and injectors from a 2.3 engine will work. I think the best bet would be trying to pull them all from the same truck if you can

    harness and PCM

97 2.3L automatic only. (2.3L SOHC discontinued for 98 and later Ranger. 96-back uses different auto trans wiring and different PCM.)

Not sure if 4x4 truck will work as a harness/PCM donor. This is not much of an issue since 2.3 4x4's are rather rare compared to 2WD.

    Injectors:

Using 97 2.3 injectors is "safest" but those from earlier 2.3's might also cross. I'd concentrate on 95~97 and check the color code of the injector body (indicates flow rate).

    Mazda

94+ North American B-series Mazda trucks use the same powertrain parts as Rangers of the same year/engine/trans/drive. Many more Rangers were made so used parts are much more common.

    tanks!
Went down today to look at the damage.
    I think I got lucky as hell!
The wiring loom is melted, but ALL the wires are intact, unmelted.
The only wire fried was the oil PSI wire
    So looks like I need
    LOTS of wire loom
    injector, (orange)
    injector plug ends
    injector rail (hose looks suspect)
Oil PSI sending unit and plug
    S/P wires intake side
    Hood painted
So I dodged a BIG bullet
