History: been to my mechanic 3 times over 2 years and AC still broken. He charges it a little and that seems to fix it, but then it only lasts for a few hours. I don't think it's loosing much freon and he can't find a leak anywhere. He has put dye in it several times and let it run for hours in his shop looking for leaks. He said it could be a small leak in the condensor inside the dash.

Could it be a sensor that is bad that I can replace b/f replacing the condensor?

    Thanks.

I would have to say its the condensor, not a sensor

The ranger ac's are notorious for problems. The compressor itself fails a lot, and causes what I've heard called black death, spitting trash and pieces of itself into the system when it fails. My compressor clutch failed and locked up on my 2.3. I'm not sure how easy it would be to change out the blower and under dash components. I would think the entire dash would have to go, which is a pretty big pain. In my accord, the low pressure port valve was actually leaking, the pin wouldn't engage, so it didnt seem like it had a leak because you expect the valve to have some dye on it. New low pressure line and it was good to go. Just throwing some ideas out there for you, but sounds like you're pretty sure that dash has to come out.
