I loved both my Rangers, but on my 1985 Ranger I had a 2.3 4cyl with the Auto 5 speed OD.

The truck ran great until I had around 9800 miles on it and the truck would not go into "Reverse" when it got warm. Took it to one Ford Dealer paid them $100 bucks to be told "Low on Fluid" and didn't even get out of the Lot it did it again.
Took it to another Ford Dealer 20 miles and they said "Its leaking between the seals" well fix it under warranty . Took a week and when I went to pick it up, it was still up on the hoist and putting a New Transmission in it.
The 5 speed OD Auto was so new on that truck they replaced the whole thing for "$1.39" the price of a Quart of Fluid .

FORD was Great Taking Care of the Problem (The First Dealer Got a Nasty Gram) called me to apologize had even given me a rental car during that time.

    That's why I always Bought FORD .

Good to see a dealership, not acting like a stealership!

Yeah its always nice to see a dealership taking care of problems responsibly unlike what alot of other people have experienced. But, I've always loved Fords

You really don't hear stories like that anymore. Good to hear somebody is getting treated like they should at a dealer. That's what kinda sucks about the newer Rangers. They make it such a pain to work on you almost have to take it to a dealer to have any sort of work done.

That was 1986 too. I was 1200 miles from where I bought it too living and the first dealer wasn't too thrilled:rolleyes:. I had the Extended warranty plus it was still under warranty but he still made me pay the $100 Deductible .

The other Dealer Had NO PROBLEMS WITH it being from another dealer and by that time it was over "10,000 miles" and I was supposed to pay the $100 deductible , the dealership wrote "9850 miles" on the paperwork" to keep me from paying the $100.

Then FORD sent me a "Survey" on the 2 dealers , and I praised the 2nd one and "^%$%^$#$ the 1st one and FORD Refunded me my first $100 .

So Yes, Some Dealers are "Stealer Ships" I'm lucky I have a Local one which is a small town (Farm Town) and they don't try to steal from you, they like your business.

FMC is another Story, they mixed-up my account with another one and tried to Repo my Truck when I was 3 months ahead. All those Phone calls from them threatening me and everything, I finally got fed up and got the PRESIDENT OF FMC at the time and told him where I wanted "My New Ranger Delivered".
He then looked at my records, after 90 days it took him 3mins to see the problem and apologized it was fixed within 24 hours.

Good, honest and reliable dealerships are out there and do exist. I had the pleasure of working for one and now I make sure to give dealerships most of my business as long as the try to keep it.

I agree, Its like anything else all it takes is "1 BAD ONE " to give 10 good ones a Bad rap.
I buy my Tires thru the Dealer ,reason? Ford if I go in there with a ad from some place else with the same tire for less, they'll beat it or already have it for less.

Plus I get my "courtesy truck"

Yeah, I agree it only takes 1 bad experience to spoil the rest. Also, MOST of the stories you are going to here are people posting about their BAD experiences. People can have good or great experiences and you never hear about them.

Also...it's amazing once you get a higher-up on the phone or get in touch with them, how quickly things get resolved. They really do realize how important it is to keep their customers happy. Something that many of the employees may not understand.
