I have a 1994 Ranger Ext. Cab 4X2 with a 3.0 ltr. Here is my problem. When turning the key it tries to start and will if I let I crank over for a few seconds. I have found that if I stop turning the key and try again it fires right up. What's the problem. I am hoping not a fuel pump. Thanks in advance for your advice.

mine did the same, originally turned out to be a bad distributor at the root of the prob that finally gave out. after fixing that it started & ran like a champ, but the prob. is that in this situation it could be fuel, spark, or air and you will have to check all of those & make sure that any or all of those are being supplied adequately.

i agree with bzingler also make sure that who ever had the truck before you didnt advance the timing a bunch. mine does the exact same thing when its real cold out and i have 8 extra degrees of ignition. Good Luck.
