05 Ranger with the 3.0 engine. 45,000 miles so far. Question is does it have a timing belt or timing chain.

It has an internal timing chain and gear set. Why do you ask if I may? You should not have any troubles with it most 3.0's last a very long time and I haven't heard of any that had a timing chain problem unless they are high mileage.

    No troubles

Since the truck did not have the owners manual with it when I bought the vehicle and the manual that I downloaded did not say I just wanted to know. Not having any troubles with the truck, but I know that a timing belt usually needs to be changed around 5 years or 60,000 miles and it is coming up on that. Timing chain should be good for the life of the engine or truck. Now no worries. Thanks for the info

I can't think of any Ford V6 that used a belt.

Some of the 2.3s did, but most Ford engines use a chain.
