I found out some time back our local Autozone and Oreillys doesn't have an adapter that will connect to read the codes. Too old I guess. I figured once the CEL illuminated it would stay on. Hopefully the ECM holds history.

1994 Ranger- 4 liter V6- RWD- Automatic trans While driving today got a check engine light. My pickup acted as though it was not getting gas. It never completely died but bucked some then the check engine light went out. No problem when light is out. Any ideas?
