New rotor button? does your 83 have a distributer cap?:blink:Have you replaced it?It pretty much sounds like you done everything that would remove the miss,is it a constant miss,or does it just miss when you accelerate?It could b something as simple as a computer going bad,or as bad as a burnt...

Jon,You refered to removing slack from the throttle cable....which end?At the pedal or at the throttle body?Am curious about this mod,may try it myself. Thanks Mike

I dunno,it kinda makes sense i guess,all an egr does is allow heated gasses from the exhaust into the intake,and we all know that cool air works better going through the intake,it's basically another one of those enviomental b.s. devices they were force to put on vehicles twenty years ago...but...

I saw on another site someone blocking off the egr valve to gain some HP and MPG,says gains in both depts. were moderate,and easily noticable while driving.Anyone else ever heard of this,or tried it?

Hey , stumbled upon this site while searching for parts for my 89' Ranger,liked what I saw,so I joined.:thumbsup:.In the process of redoing the 89',not that it needs much,other than some engine mods for a little more oomph under the hood,I'm sure i'll be looking for advice,parts...

I 've got a 89' ranger with the 2.3,dual plug set up,stock....decals on rad cover show it's the right engine....they r under powered though....would love to mod it up some....Mike
