Insurance rates?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Redneck_ranger, Feb 29, 2012.

  1. Alright, so when I buy my new truck, I'm getting my own insurance. I'm just curious as to what everybody's rates are, and the company that you use (if you want to tell me, that is. Not trying to dig into personal business, just looking to see what I can afford.) I priced geico and they gave me a quote of $135.xx a month for a six month policy on my current truck, and $128 on the 93. That sound decent for an 18 year old? Thanks fellas

right now insurance is being stupid... they are basing your payment on your credit history(or atleast where i live) but i have full coverage on my truck and rentoers insurance and i pay around 125.... but that's with no tickets/accidents and a higher drivers ed class(EVOC) and plus i'm 31 getting ready to turn 32.... so that play a factor as well...

That ain't too bad... I'm getting mostly the basics with what I chose. For two years, haven't had an accident so I don't really need collision, especially since I can find parts in a junk yard. I have the minimum on everything

it's so hard to say what yours will be since everyone lives in different parts of the country and has vehicles worth different amounts, different ages, different driving records. call the agent your parents have their policy with and see what he will quote you for being on your own policy. it's the 100% best way to know what you'll be looking at paying

I don't remember what mine was last time, but it's still too high.
My folks pay less for full coverage than I do for one notch down.

If you speak to an actual agent, make sure to point out any/all safety features you have like airbags, antilock brakes, keyless entry, etc.
Sometimes you can still be on the folks policy & save some dough too.
Multiple policies can have some nice savings too.

    It goes like this:

It depends on what insurance agency you have, what POLICY you have (collateral, full, etc), and you age. The price of your insurance DRASTICALLY skyrockets from the ages of 16-25.

Either way, I pay 110/month. I have full coverage on the white and collateral on the blue.

I pay $110 a month, full coverage on 06 Mustang GT and 04 Mustang and collateral on wife's 00 Sable, via Geico.

Being 31 and married with zero accidents helps.

I have just basic (liability) and through my mothers insurance, its like 100 a month. But we get a bit of a discount because its taken directly out of her paycheck tho.

i'm on my parents policy, because if i opened my own policy the cost would be INSANE. right now i pay everyone's car insurance in my household, $304 a month for 4 vehicles, just basic coverage. roughly $210 of that is because of my 2 vehicles, scince i just turned 20 i'm still a "high risk" driver :( even though i drive like an old man, lol.
